Alexis Bittar launched his jewelry collections in the early ‘90s but the Brooklyn native’s artistic flair was evident long before. As a child Bittar developed interests in Tiffany glass, architecture, and fine art. In the 1980s, fueled by his passion for design and color, including Art Deco Bakelite and turn-of-the-century Lalique glass, Bittar created and sold Lucite jewelry on SOHO.
Bittar’s Lucite collection combines his love of form, texture, color and light. Each piece is hand-sculpted and hand-painted by skilled artisans at Bittar’s Brooklyn “DUMBO” studio. Each creation is a marriage of bold design and high style. This blend of art and design is evident in Bittar’s necklaces, bracelets, earrings, pins and most recently, home décor pieces.
Today, Alexis Bittar creations are sold at department stores and independent boutiques worldwide. His work is regularly featured in premier publications such as W, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, The New York Times and Vogue d’Italia. Bittar’s pieces are collected by a discerning clientele including Madonna, Karl Lagerfeld, Cameron Diaz and Naomi Watts. In 2004 Bittar was designated by the Accessories Council as its “Rising Star” and in 2005 was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
