Notoriety and success have characterized RedStart Design's launch since its initial stages. The Subtle Safety™ Ring, a statement in fashion and a reminder to women to make safe choices, was selected by New York's Museum of Modern Art (www.MOMA.org) to be part of the exhibition, “SAFE: Design Takes On Risk.” This show brought RedStart welcomed
international attention among their peers. Subtle Safety has appeared in such notable press as Daily Candy, Jane, Health, The LA Times, The Chicago Tribune and Quest.
RedStart Design, LLC was founded by Stanford University graduate school alumnae Amanda Knox, Sara Shaughnessy and Kim Hoffmann. RedStart is happy to call San Francisco home. The Bay Area is a hotbed for product design and the city offers an engaging culture of creativity. Together these factors combine to create an ideal atmosphere for design inspiration. By fusing their backgrounds in Design, Mechanical Engineering, Biology, Art History and Religious Studies, the designers create sculptural pieces that emphasize the beauty and sparkle of precious metals and small precious stones.
RedStart currently produces six lines of jewelry, which are available for sale at the RedStart online site (www.redstartdesign.com), at select boutiques around the world, and at high-end festivals and tradeshows throughout the year. Signature pieces such as the Infinity Loop speak to the mature, independent woman who can appreciate jewelry that will take her from day into evening. RedStart offers impeccable craftsmanship and design quality at a reasonable price point. A rarity in the jewelry industry, RedStart pieces encompass taste,
quality and value.
In addition to their current jewelry lines, RedStart creates custom pieces, allowing customers direct interaction and creative input with the RedStart team. These custom design projects have ranged from engagement rings and wedding bands to accents for restored automobiles, and have employed the RedStart skill set that includes traditional jewelry-making techniques like casting and fabrication as well as rapid prototyping and solid modeling abilities. As well as producing jewelry, the RedStart designers teach jewelry-making at Stanford University and at a metals studio in Italy, and have done jewelry design work for major fashion brands.
The dynamic ladies of RedStart Design are in part dreamers, and in part engineers, realistic about technical aspects, fundamentally optimistic and excited by challenges. These first years have been incredible and the evolving nature of RedStart Design promises an exciting future.
We love what we do and hope you will enjoy our work!
