BACKGROUND
In 2004 a breakthrough venture for both the jewelry industry and the hip-hop community, occurred when entrepreneur Russell Simmons and designer Kimora Lee Simmons, creative director of Baby Phat, to form a joint venture partnership named Simmons Jewelry Co.

Kimora Lee Simmons for Hello Kitty
In Spring 2005, Simmons Jewelry Co. and Sanrio announced a co-branded Jewelry licensing partnership. Designed by Kimora Lee Simmons and launched as the “Hello Kitty Collection by Kimora Lee Simmons” the initial collection launched exclusively at Neiman Marcus prices ranging from $300 to $5000. Collection is targeted to women who knew kitty in their youth and have an emotional connection. The jewelry is comprised of precious metals, diamonds and gemstones. The collection has exceeded Neiman Marcus’ expectations and has created huge buzz in the celebrity community. Britney Spears, Hilary Duff, Kelly Ripa, Tyra Banks, and Kelly Osbourne are just a handful of the celebrities who have worn pieces from this collection.
Simmons Steel Collection
Holiday 2005, Simmons launched a Stainless Steel collection of bracelets, chains, pendants, rings, and diamond earrings for the urban-minded consumer. Combining traditional diamond and gold materials and alternative materials such as rubber and stainless steel, this collection provides a modern twist to traditional jewelry, which allows a man to express his individuality by wearing these pieces. The collection ranges from $150 - $5000 and is available at Gordon’s Jewelers, Zales, Kay Jewelers, Rogers & Holland and Macy’s.
