I began a career in accounting and found that after 15 years I needed to explore my creative side. I began a career in accounting and found that after 15 years I needed to explore my creative side. In 2001 I began making basic beaded jewelry and started selling on the weekends at local craft shows. In 2005 I Enrolled in Metalsmithing classes in NYC and for the most part just "learned as I went along", working with new methods and mediums. In September 2009 I proudly opened my Boutique on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. All my work is handmade in Sterling Silver or 14K Gold, featuring two popular lines: The BirdsNest Collection and the Kinetic Collection.
My Collections are Inspired by Nature and Movement.
The Birds Nest Designs are all Sterling Silver or Gold Wire wrapped and heated in random places to create that twig-like look.
Each piece melts differently therefore creating a unique interesting work of art.
The Kinetic collection features multiple outer bands which rotate around one larger inner band. Very much drawn to this technique, found the movement and sound that accompany the design to be quite awe inspiring.
The Freeform Bracelets are 8 gauge Sterling Silver or Gold Wire soldered into a standard Cuff shape, then Hand Formed into various shapes, creating unique pieces in an ever changing design.
I also enjoy transforming the exterior of the pieces. This is created using random materials such as lace, screening, ribbon, to mention a few, using a rolling mill to roll the intricate objects onto the metal. Thus creating different textures to the finished pieces. Other textures are also made by using various smithing tools, hammers, and files, again deriving inspiration from movement and nature.
